Rectifier Diode

The rectifier is a device used to transform an alternating signal into a unidirectional one (always positive or always negative). Its operation is derived directly from the operation of the diode.
In circuits powered by alternating voltage, it allows the passage of current from the anode to the cathode with a small voltage drop blocking the passage of current in the reverse direction. The diode can be understood as a closed circuit in the case of forward conduction, while in an open circuit for reverse conduction.
It is used to transform alternating current into direct current. It is also identified with the name of rectifier bridge as the German Graetz created one of the first rectifier circuits, the "Graetz Bridge".
