Power LEDs indicate a diode which, being capable of transforming electrical energy with a power greater than 1 W into light and heat, can be used in the lighting of internal and external environments, i.e. to distribute light in the space built at given lighting levels. The high Power Infrared LED work well for security and surveillance systems that need higher radiation and operate perfectly in high ambient temperatures and high humidity areas due to its robust design. High Power IR LED can also be used in any other applications ranging from TV remote control, auto-focus cameras to electronic gates, cosmetic devices and VR glasses.  Narrow beam angle up to 30° enable to achieve exceptional radiant density and avoid the need for a secondary lens.

 

What is SWIR and how can high-performance SWIR LEDs be exploited? How do SWIR LEDs work?
SWIR LEDs, also known as shortwave infrared, are rapidly becoming the best option for applications that do not involve visible illumination. The wavelengths of SWIRs are between 700 and 2500 nm, which means they are invisible to the naked eye, however, in some cases, this range can be within the range of visible illumination and thermography.

SWIR LEDs offer unique capabilities for detection, inspection, sorting, surveillance, remote sensing and more, so they are used in glass inspection, recyclable materials sorting, food inspection and analysis, narcotics testing, biomedicine, telecommunications, laser sensing and surveillance, other applications are found in the maritime industry, ophthalmology, spectroscopy, weapons guidance, imaging and solar inspection.

One of the greatest advantages of SWIR LEDs is that they can detect chemicals and gases, can operate both day and night, and do not require cooling, which is certainly convenient.

However, perhaps the biggest disadvantage of SWIR is that it is still relatively unfamiliar; it relies on acquiring information through specific bands to produce accurate data.
