Diode

A diode is a semiconductor that essentially acts like a unidirectional current switch. They are also called rectifiers as they change alternating current (AC) into pulsating direct current (DC). Diodes are characterized by the polarity which is determined by the anode (positive terminal) and the cathode (negative terminal).
